Students Perceptions of Homework as a Formal Assessment Method

Whether it is formative or summative, an assessment which explained in Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary (2015) as “an opinion judgement about sb/sth that has been thought about” (p.75) plays a significant role completing the language education process because of its ability to provide feedback. Choosing right method crucial for teachers since most classical assignments create anxiety and make problematic students. evaluate students’ knowledge, they understand their grammar level definite time another discrepancy clarify. By taking into consideration those, this qualitative study focuses on problems exams tries reveal how beneficial desirable can difficult homework be formal method. An unstructured interview form was used collect data from 40 prep-class students who were selected using convenience sampling perceptions Results showed although 32 those had difficulties while preparing homework, them liked well think kind more than exams. Moreover, half participants’ desire have such instead despite homework’s difficulties, also express increased knowledge.
